Within the framework of the Baja SeaFood Expo, will be carrying out educational workshops for children. In partnership with organizations such as Pro esteros, GESI and Caracol Museum of Science.

We present the program of activities of each organization.

 

— CARACOL MUSEUM OF SCIENCE.

Caracol Museum of Science joins the celebration and event Baja Sea Food 2017, as an ally to strengthen the theme of sustainability that will board the event this year.

Didactic workshop ¨Measure, release y conserve¨

 

Description
Assistants will realize a process of "fishing and measuring" especies (Fictitious), where they will be informed of the correct sizes for their capture and the environmental consequences of not respecting these guidelines.
 

Objective: Learn the use of this natural wealth; continue benefiting from our marine resources and increase the development of communities, activity that compromises the fisherman, tourism service providers, civil society and scientific organizations.

Talks about photography as a tool for conservation.

 

— GROUP OF ECOLOGY AND CONSEVATION OF ISLANDS.

Through these activities, known the work carried out in the islands of Mexico, as well as the value of biodiversity, sovereignty and natural resources offered by island ecosystems will be known.

Cut and paste

 

Though these activities kids will learn in a fun and entertaining way what types of bird nest in the island and why is important to take care of them. 

Materials: Sheets of paper with different images to color, cardboard, pens, colors, crayons, scissors, sharpener and glue. 

 

Adventure boat 

 

The intent of this activity is that children know representative species of 4 islands (Coronado, Todos Santos, San Martin and San Jeronimo), through the game of memory and lottery.


Materials: 4 boards and 24 tokens.

 

The Burrow

 

This activity simulates a burrow, for children to explore and know how the seabird live and for them to listen to the birds vocalization or calls that emit.


Materials: Artificial burrows made of paper, with integrated vocalizations.

 

The intrepid life of seabirds

 

The goal of this game is for children to realize how hard the life of seabirds is at night, the dangers and problems they face throughout their life and together find possible solutions.

Materials: Illustrated tarp, stuffed animals, clipart or seabird toys, boats and toy nets.

Contribution model of nutrients

 

This interactive model will show the balance of the ecosystem with its components such as the role of seabirds with their contribution of nutrients, through guano and indicators of the health of fish populations.


Materials: Model of an island with its elements (birds, plants, reptiles, insects, fish, mammals, fisherman).

 

Give life to your cloth bag

 

In this activity we’ll provide a cloth bag with an illustration on it in which the kids will give colors and life to it with crayons. This dynamic is intended to instill the use of cloth bags instead of plastic bags which take years to degrade and damage the ecosystem.

RED LEO is an organization where observations and knowledge about extreme environmental events are exchanged. It also allows its members to contribute to the detection of new enviromental problems in their communities.

Musical presentation with songs composed by the children on Bahia Asuncion, Guerrero Negro, Natividad Island, Guadalupe island and Cedros island. Music by Natalia Arroyo and UABC choir children’s.

Documentary that plays the beautiful Pacific Islands of Baja California song , its natural resources and its charismatic seabirds are an extraordinary heritage of the Mexican people, and source of inspiration for diverse artistic expressions.

¨San Benito Archipielago: Symphony seabirds¨

 

Documentary on San Benito West Island, in the Pacific Ocean, in the peninsula of Baja California, it is a unique habitat for the conservation of seabirds, besides being home to several endemic species of flora and fauna.

— PRO ESTEROS.

Non-profit citizen organization, working to achieve conservation of wetlands through the balance between development and protection of the environment.
